Alice Cooper (Part 2) @ Montereau Confluences festival, June 10 2011

Alice Cooper @ Montereau Confluences festival
June 10 2011
Part 2
The boa is out on this tour
This tour has been dubbed "No more Mr Nice guy" so the boa is out on this tour as you can see on the setlist (in Part 1) Alice is playing ALL the Hits. some recent songs, a brand new one called " I'll bite your head off" and even "Muscle of Love".
The band is on top form maybe some songs sound a bit too Heavy Metal which is not my favorite Alice, I've always prefered when he's more "classic" rock or even "Cabaret".
Only women Bleed

The audience is not a rock audience, more a family audience so I guess they liked the show as there are different things happening: we have a huge " Frankestein" who lost his jaw, it was probaly not part of the show but it was funny, we have the guillotine and lots of costume changes (like Mariah Carey or Beyonce) but Alice is not as pretty ;-)
Maybe I would have like to have a song from "The Last temptation" which is one of my favorite album but the setlist is a good mix of old stuff and more recent songs.
A jaw-dropping Frankestein
The guillotine

"School's out" including snippet from Roger Waters' "Another brick in the wall" is having the audience singing along.
Alice is back on stage with a French flag for the Encore " Elected".
Very entertaining 90 min show
I Wanna be elected ...in France

Zazie was headlining but we didn't bother (whod did anyway ?) it was time to go back to Paris.

System of a Down + Clutch @ Bercy, Paris june 08 2011

System of a Down + Clutch @ Bercy
2nd show, Paris June 09 2011

Clutch

Back into Bercy Arena to attend System of a Down's second sold-out show in Paris.
This time instead of Trail of dead, that wasn't very welcomed by the audience we have Clutch.
We arrived late , as usual , so we've missed the beginning of their show, in fact we only saw the last four songs of the band, too bad it was very good, the kind of shit that we liked at ROCKERPARIS, some cool bluesy rock stoner.

Nice... tee-shirt !

After a 30 min intermission, System of a Down took the stage in the same great atmosphere as two days ago. 17 000 people jumping up & down from the first minute to the last.
The band is as relaxed on stage as at the first concert.
Once again the sound is clear & neat.
This time there is a small pit down the front , for people with a wristband, not as stupid as the previous gig where they divided the pit in the middle from the front to the back.
I haven't seen any press photographers in the pit tonight (same as previous show), I guess the band doesn't want any photos as Patrice had to put his camera at the cloakroom after the security went to see him in the stalls, but he always has a Plan B.
CORRECTION : Same setlist as the first night @ Bercy on june 06. (click for pics, video & review or scroll down this page).
Show started @ 8:45 and ended @ 10:30 pm
Anothe Great gig.

The Kooks @ Cigale, Paris June 07 2011

The Kooks @ Cigale
Paris, June 07 2011

Another sold-out gig, in my favourite theatre in Paris: La Cigale.
The Kooks are doing a tour without any new album out yet, the next one "Junk of the heart" will be out next September.
This band from Brighton has lots of dedicated fans and when I'm saying fans I'm talking about young ( between 15 & 20 years old) girls most of them very sexy.
Going to a Kooks' gig is always a pleasure : the band is good, they have nice songs, the atmosphere in the audience is always lively and... the girls are young and pretty.

We arrived to late to see the support band, sorry.
Even though it's sold out, there is room in the pit and the A.C. is working correctly so it's not too hot in there.
The band is not on the stage that people are starting jumping up and down and as the floor of La Cigale is like a trampoline (it's on springs) it's funny to see from the sides.
Each songs is greated with screams, they've played the hits and... a few new songs.
Hard to say how the new album will sound as they've played a slow song and a heavy one.
It's also funny to see that as the years go by it's still the same (very) young audience.
The singer is teasing the first row by walking on the edge of the stage several times but no stage diving, I guess he's afraid of having his clothes tear off.
The guitar player is still playing nice licks on guitar as if he was somewhere else.
They may have 3 albums (with the new one) they're still playing a very short set, no more than 75 min including the encore.
Very nice gig !

Updated with SETLIST

System of a Down
@ Paris Bercy
June 06 2011

Well it's been a while, we probably saw SOAD many many years ago, they opened for Black Sabbath in Birmigham in 1999-2000 but i'm not sure if we get there on time to see them.
A friend of mine told me that we went to a Slayer private party at the Locomotive club in Pigalle in 1999 and that we had a drink with the guys afterwards but I don' t remember it at all, the funniest thing is that @ Rockerparis we're straight ( no booze, no drugs... ever) I guess Alzheimer is striking early for us.

Anyway... this is the first show tonight and it was sold-out in just an hour so they added a second one on June 8th that is sold-out as well.
Funny to think that Ozzy Osbourne played here @ Bercy a few months ago and it was half empty.Luckily Ozzy & band liked the gig and they've played the longest set on the whole tour with an extra encore.
You can feel that there are expectations from the audience as everybody seem very excited before the show.
As soon as the band played the first note it was just screaming and jumping & dancing for the mostly male French Heavy Metal maniacs.
The sound is neat, not too loud, the stage is very simple with just a backdrop (in fact several different backdrops) in the back.
The singer's funny he's dancing as if he was singing into an arabic band, probably because that's the way they're dancing in Armenia where the band has its roots.
The band is very relaxed on the stage no head-banging like metallers, well just a bit now & then from the guitar player.
I'll try to get the setlist shortly but I have to say I'm not too familiar with their back catalogue as We only have a couple of their albums.
Here's the SETLIST (click on link)
You really have to know the songs before seeing them otherwise you'll feel a bit confused by some of their songs.
Musically they're a bit like a heavy version of Franck Zappa with lots a tempo change for each tune.

on the floor !

What striked me most is the atmosphere: from the first row to the last one up in the last block in the stalls, everyone is jumping & dancing for the whole 90+ min that lasted the show.
Don't know why they didn't play any encore.
Very good show.
